Get to know me

Dr Simon Pugh-Jones, MBE, DSc, President is known internationally for his work at the Writhlington School Orchid Project which he founded. Since 1993 the pupils in the project, under his care, have been leading orchid conservation initiatives (especially seed raising) around the world, working with schools, communities and conservation groups in Africa, Asia and Central and South America. The cultural skills of his pupils with their superb greenhouses, have awed us all with their specimen plants and Gold medals at Chelsea and Hampton Court, European shows and in South Africa. The articles in the Journal and lectures at the meetings by him and his pupils have been informative and hugely impressive. We are delighted to have his expertise and enthusiasm to lead the Society.
