Get to know me
My love for orchids began when I was 16 years old. I built up a collection in the back garden of our house in Sri Lanka and joined the Orchid Circle of Ceylon as a student member, where I attended all the Annual and Interim Shows. My enthusiasm built up rapidly viewing all the fabulous displays, and I was encouraged by well-known growers in the country. I rapidly expanded my collection by buying imported plants from Singapore and Thailand.
I was appointed Exhibition Secretary of the Orchid Circle of Ceylon in 1976 and until 1990, when I moved to the United Kingdom with my family. I was also appointed to the panel of judges of the Orchid Circle of Ceylon in 1980.
I have been very fortunate to win prestigious awards, such as Best in Show and Group Awards at both our Anniversary and Interim Shows.
I started to grow orchids in this country in 2008, after my retirement from a long service as maintenance manager in the hospitality industry. All my plants are grown in a greenhouse at the end of my backyard.
