Presentation

“A Walk on the Wild Side, at the Foot of Africa” Presented by Hendrelien Peters.

There are over 480 indigenous orchids of South Africa but how does one describe them?

The orchids cover the whole colour spectrum from intense reds through to the palest colours, with almost translucent forms; from large two metre tall plants to tiny 5 cm plants; with flowers resembling little brown balls, sea anemones with tendrils floating in the breeze, tiny little hooked spiders crawling on a stem, google-eyed martians or overgrown eyebrows - just a few descriptions of the vast array of orchids found in South Africa.

Hendrelien will take us on a short journey, discovering their beauty and uniqueness.
