The Orchid Society of Great Britain (OSGB) was founded in 1951 by John Blowers and celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2011.

We welcome and include members with a wide range of orchid growing knowledge and experience. Members range from beginners with a few orchids on their windowsills to expert, professional growers. We are happy to help newcomers expand their enjoyment of orchids and increase their expertise in every aspect of orchid growing and showing.

We meet on the first Saturday of each month at 13:30 in Napier Hall, Hide Place, Westminster, London, SW1P 4NJ. At each meeting we have a lecture on an orchid-related subject and members can show their plants which are judged and awarded followed by a short talk about their merits and cultivation. We offer refreshments; plants for sale and purchase; a raffle with orchid plants as prizes; our extensive library from which to borrow books and a friendly atmosphere in which to meet those with a shared interest in orchids.

We publish a quarterly, full-colour Journal exclusively for our members. Articles include news from around the world; cultivation advice; book reviews and stories of orchid hunting, all beautifully illustrated. We exhibit every year at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, the RHS London Orchid Show and other shows around the country.

The Society and orchid growing have evolved in many ways over the last 60 years but orchids continue to intrigue and fascinate. Please join us, we are always happy to welcome new members.
