Growing culture

I have a Masd. uniflora which grows well but every time the spikes get to about 2cm long they rot.

I mist the plants every day so I wonder if this might be the issue? My Masd. coccinea spikes don't seem to suffer and they get the same treatment.

Any thoughts or advice welcome!
